A few weeks ago, I was lucky enough to attend another Boston Brunchers event. This time, it was at the home of the Harvard Common Press!
I met Adam who is the face behind @HCPDishes on Twitter at Techmunch and was able to see the awesome collection of cookbooks that they have to offer. They also have parenting books which I may have to take a look at in a very long time years and years when the time comes to go down that road.
Let’s talk about this road, shall we?
This was one of the more interesting brunches, because instead of being in a restaurant, we were treated to some delicious dishes straight out of a selection of Harvard Common Press Cookbooks!
We started out with coffee and tea, and two different drink concoctions, one alcoholic and one non. I actually enjoyed the non-alcoholic drink better! This is the Harvest Bowl from Good Spirits, which did have alcohol. It was delicious and a great way to start off the brunch!
My favorite of the day was the Raspberry Cream Cheese Coffee Cake from A Real American Breakfast. But I’m a sucker for coffee cake.
I didn’t try everything that was available because, well, there’s a lot of carbs there, but these muffins looked pretty good. I passed though for more interesting items.
Like the pear bread with vanilla and ginger from The Best Quick Breads. It was moist and peary and vanilla-y. It was delicious.
One of the highlights was the spinach breakfast strata. I could have eaten about 5 slices of that.
Well it couldn’t be all delicious baked goods now could it? That’s an impressive looking fruit display.
My plate. Note that half of the plate is fruits. I’m a good girl, I promise!
The centerpieces of our tables were cookbooks! I was extremely lucky to get a few different cookbooks, which made great Christmas gifts!
We were also treated with a talk about the cookbook industry and how to break into it. I must brainstorm my own cookbook…..

An impressive looking bunch, eh? I really really enjoyed this event and how it was unlike any other Boston Brunchers event I’ve been too and I love that!! Stay tuned, my next post will include a recipe from one of the new cookbooks I got!
