By now you know that I’m running the Boston Marathon. Hopefully you all know why I’m running the Marathon and who I’m running it for. Now is your chance to help me reach my goal to raise $4,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society!
Some of you may remember that a few months ago, I participated in Bloggers Bake for Hope, which was hosted by Jen of Beantown Baker and Cara of Cara’s Cravings where I baked up a delicious Coffee Cake. Well, I’m borrowing their amazing idea by hosting my own Online Bake Sale. I’m hoping that it’s just as successful as their bake sale, because they raised almost $3000!!! Do you think we can do that same? I think we can!
Here are the rules if you’d like to participate in the bake sale:
If you want to BAKE something for the bake sale:
1. Send me an email to Kitchenmisfit@gmail.com with “Online Bake Sale” in the Subject line.
2. Include in your email what you are baking, how much you are baking, as well as a photo of the item, and a blog post if applicable. Also include if there are any allergy restrictions like nuts, dairy, etc
3. Include whether you are willing to ship outside the USA, or will only be limiting your item to be bid by US residents only. Baker will be responsible for shipping baked goods once the auction is over.
If you want to BID on something for the bake sale:
1. All items will have a separate post that you can comment on. Comment on the item that you would like to bid on by posting the amount that you want to bid (US dollars please!) and please make sure an email address is attached so I can contact you if you win!
2. If you are declared a winner, I will send you an email informing you that you won and attached will be the site where you will need to send your donation to before the baked good(s) can be shipped. Donations will be sent directly through my fundraising page: http://pages.teamintraining.org/ma/boston12/alaskowski. I would ask that you process your donation no later than January 30th.
3. Once your donation has gone through, I will email your name and address to the baker and they will send you your goodies.
DEADLINES!!!!!
The bake sale auction will be held during the week of January 22nd – January 28. The auction will start at midnight on January 22nd and will end at 5PM on January 28th. This will give me the chance to email the winners on January 28th and the bakers hopefully no later than the 29th.
If you would like to participate in the bake sale, the deadline to email me with all the specifics is January 18th. This will give me enough time to organize everything so it can go live on January 22nd.
Once the auction is closed and the donations are received, I will send the bakers the names and addresses of the winners and all baked goods should be sent within 2 weeks of the end of the auction. That’s February 11th.
Final Words:
As we get bakers coming in to donate, I will be creating a separate page titled “Bake Sale for Cancer” that will list everyone that is participating along with what they are baking. The day the auction goes live, all entries will have a separate link to go to in order to bid on the items.
If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to tweet, facebook, email, reply to this post, and I will answer as best as I can.
The one thing I ask of all of you, participating or bidding, PLEASE PASS THE WORD ALONG! This fundraiser CANNOT and WILL NOT be successful unless EVERYONE knows about it! Tweet it, email it, post it on Facebook, tell your coworkers, friends and family. If you are a blogger that is baking, please post about it on your blog! Every little bit helps!
